I took this picture just last week in warm sunny weather! Dakota and one of our young ewe lambs sharing a drink at the water trough. Today the snow has hit the ground and it cold outside. I had to chop 3 inches of ice off the top of that water trough! How fast the weather changes.
We have downsized and now have a very small flock of Dorper Sheep. Our main focus has changed to meat goats. We have a few registered Savanna Goats and some commercial meat goats as well.

Last weeks wind damage
Last week was another 100K plus wind week. We thought we had some fence damage from the neighbours wheel line.
While walking to check it out it was discovered that the wheel line has some damage. Amazing that the wind caused such a tear in the metal pipe!
Get down to the fence damage and much to my surprise the fence is fine. Somehow the wind blew the wheel line over the fence and it is just putting pressure on the top wire.
The edge of the wheel line that is over the wire reveals another metal tear in the pipe! Here is picture of the end that is in our field.
Here is a picture of the end that is still sitting in the neighbours field. While I feel for the neighbour I am glad this is not our wheel line. Ours is just fine.

Our newest arrival
We are happy to introduce "Twinkie". She arrived unexpectedly just two short weeks before Christmas. Our little girl has made her way right at home and is spoiled rotten. She gets along with the other dogs and cats of the house. Bailey is taking the change in stride as I believe she thinks Twinkie is a puppy that needs to be cleaned and loved on. Bailey is always good with lambs that we bring into the house (chilled or bottle babies) as she takes on the roll of loving mum. She has extended that mothering to little Twinkie.
Below: Bailey shows off her mothering skills as she tries to clean Twinkie's ear.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
Buddy wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. He also wanted to do it on time. The human factor on the other hand was a little slow. That said, Happy belated holiday greetings from everyone at Win D Acres!! Buddy put on his antlers and fancy bell collar just for the pictures :)
