And The Tractor Got Stuck

The Chev got stuck and the Ford got stuck
Got the Chev unstuck when the Dodge showed up
But the Dodge got stuck in the tractor rut
Which eventually pulled out the Ford
And the Dodge...

Only in our case it was..
The John Deere got stuck and Kubota showed up,
Kubota got help from the bobcat but,
they just couldn't do it alone!
The Chev showed up and tried to help,
but that still didn't work.. Sooooo
The neighbor with the big machines had to haul it out in the morning. heh.

Raymond Fall Fair

We had a lovely time this past weekend at the Raymond and District Ag. Society Fall Fair. The Sheep were a hit so our display was busier than I thought it would be.

Twinkie enjoyed the fair too, complete with tummy rubs and lazing about.

She was one tired little dog buy the end of the day and just couldn't keep her little eyes opened any longer.

Wow What A Tail!

This has to be the longest tail I have seen on a lamb. WIN101Z is a purebred Katahdin. She is out of 29U and Odo. That tail is long and has a fluffy end on it. Very weird! Other wise she is a pretty little lamb that is doing well.

WIN110Z

This lovely girl is out of WIN60Y (Jewel) and Odo. WIN110Z is a 50/50 Dorper, Katahdin cross and has the shape to prove it. She is filling out nicely. This young lady will be retained for our breeding program.

Mowing the tree lines.

This is the way they mow the trees... mow the trees... mow the trees..
This is the way they mow the trees.. early in the morning.. heh.
The ewe lambs can be a bit hard on the trees but, are easier on them than the pregnant ewes were. It sure beats trying to clean them up myself. Feeding, Fertilising and mowing.. yep it is a winning combo.

WIN73Z

Here is another really nice young man. WIN73Z weighed in at 45.2 lbs at 32 days. He has a wonderful 1.05 lbs per day rate of gain at this point. He is also a really good looker. Very independent he is often found away from proud mum WIN66Y (out of Shorty (from the Mammoth line) and Buster). Proud Papa is Odo. I must say I am very happy that I kept his mum as I had her up for sale for a short time before having a change of heart. WIN66Y was a triplet lamb and the smallest of the three. She has since grown nicely and now has really done a nice job of this little guy. You would not know looking at his colour that he is a cross lamb. WIN73Z is 3/4 Katahdin and 1/4 Dorper. This is why I keep meticulous records. I don't believe in selling something that is a cross as a purebred even if they do look it!!! This young man will make an excellent sire for a commercial flock. Look for him on our sale page in September or October.

WIN70Z

This is one nice little ram lamb. He weighs in at 46 lbs in 35 days giving him 1.01 lbs per day rate of gain at this weigh in. He has a nice body shape too.  Proud momma is WIN80Y (out of Mammoth and Buster), and proud papa is WIN5X Sisko.

New Addition BRO70Z (Tucker)

We are pleased to announce the addition of Tucker (Friar Tuck) BRO70Z. He is purebred Dorper ram lamb that will be introduced to a select few ladies in this years breeding line up. While I went shopping for ram lamb with more straight hair coat than curly, his wonder body shape won me over.

New Dorper Ewe Lamb BRO80Z (Marion)

We went shopping for a new Dorper Ram and brought home this lovely little girl too. BRO80Z will be a nice addition to the ewe pen when she grows up. She is currently in with weaning ewe lambs. We call her Marion (Maid Marion). Since we bought her with an unrelated ram lamb we call Tucker (Friar Tuck).
